I don't know about you, but getting portraits done is stressful. As the Mom, I use to literally feel like I was lucky if I got fifteen minutes to get myself ready, before we have to be at the spot to do our portraits. Then we posed, me with half an eye of mascara and an incredibly wrinkled dress, and my husband literally battling a kidney stone, with a screaming baby, and a clawing toddler, for fifteen minutes. And I pray, the photographer captured something worth the Christmas card postage. *This was a real scenario. Here is the proof.*
I don't know about you, but getting portraits done is stressful. Here's the thing. It doesn't have to be that way. Before I started creating a portrait experience for my clients, I noticed that Mom was always stress smiling the whole time anticipating disaster, Dad looked grumpy...because its family picture time (AKA Dad's most hated day), and the kids and parents were both on edge because threats had been made.

A photographer arrives at your home. No not to take your portrait... But to discuss what you have been dreaming of your entire life as your perfect family portraits. That can be coordinating jammies jumping on mom and dad's bed having an amazing pillow fight. That can be perfectly posed studio portraits, that look like you are ready to be The First Family of the United States of America. That can be on a farm that has been in your family for generations with perfect golden lighting. Or my personal favorite in your home, doing what you do best, snuggling and loving each other where it actually happens.
We then talk over outfits you already have in mind, or we can go all reality TV, and hit up your closets together. (I promise I am far nicer and less dramatic, than any reality clothing TV show.)
If we are doing the portrait session in your home, we will also decide on some spaces to use for portraits. We will also discuss where you have always dreamed of having artwork in your home, or the space that needs a pick me up, because every time you walk by, expletives come into your head.

Portrait Day
A hair and makeup artist arrives to your home, and transforms you back into your best self for an hour and a half. When is the last time you sat in a chair, with no one touching you, during daytime hours, for an hour and a half...
While you feel like you are having a mini vacation, I photograph your children for individual and sibling portraits. You get to ignore us entirely, while I capture faces so sweet, they'll make you consider another one.

Then, once you exit your lovely at home makeover, we start the family portraits.
Oh shoot you forgot to get Henry's shirt pressed, no big deal, I brought a mini steamer. No stress.
Oh no, Jane decided to drink Kool-aid in her romper and now it's everywhere. Good thing we have back ups.
We will do casual and formal posing in your home. We can take portraits in all of your favorite spaces and nooks. Outfit change. Sure thing. All the combinations, to your hearts content.
Zero stress. I bribe your kids. I act like a lunatic to get them to smile. And I have an assistant with me, to fix any out of place hair or crazy collars. You sit there, looking good, and watch the circus.
